Embroidery Sewing Machines - Types

Posted By: David Patullo

Embroidery is quite an admirable fabric craft that is quite known by doing it by hand. It brings a bit more art and detail than having just plain fabric. Embroidery can turn any piece of clothing or décor piece into something special. There is just something about embroidery on an item that makes it more valuable and special. I'm sure techniques of embroidery go generations way back and is passed on and on. You might have learnt a bit of embroidery traditionally from your mom or grandmother or maybe you learnt it in a tailoring course or fashion school. If you have a bit of experience with embroidery or even if you have embroidered a few stitches you would of realized that embroidering is quite time consuming and strenuous. By the time you have done a centimeter or two of stitches a long time would of passed and your fingers would probably aching while you still have a lot of embroidery stitching to do. We have to appreciate mans' intelligence because embroidery sewing machines were invented. These machines will do hours of hand stitched embroidery in just a few minutes. If you don't have the patience or the accuracy to hand stitch embroidery then embroidery sewing machines are your answer.

Before you jump off to look for embroidery machines, you must be aware of one or two things about them and how to decide what kind of machine is best for your needs. There are two main types of embroidery machines, heavy duty sewing machines and home embroidery machines. We will briefly explain the two and hopefully you will then know what you want.

Heavy duty sewing machines. These machines are exactly what the name is: they are heavy duty. They are for big jobs and for commercial use. If you need a machine for a large scale use then you will have to get a heavy duty sewing machine. They are made for large capacity use. This type of machine is quite expensive and usually large textile manufacturers use them.

Home embroidery machines. These machines are suitable for general home use. You can usually buy such a machine as an all in one meaning that it will serve the purpose of a standard machine with the option of switching and changing settings to embroidery mode. This machine is quite affordable
There are of course other factors to consider when looking for embroidery sewing machines. When looking for such machines as well as standard sewing machines you must be aware of the brand and the availability of parts and accessories. As any tailor knows that there are a few parts of a sewing machine that will need replacing over time as well as different accessories may be needed. You don't want to get a machine that has no parts available. Buying a sewing machine is not something that you should rush into but take some time to get reviews and find out more about that particular machine.
