Fashion Jewelery - Older Fashion Jewelery Can Be Retro

There's jewelery and then there's fashion jewelery. Fashion jewelery are those bold, hip to the trend, statements that women always have moldering in their cabinets or treasure chests. Open up those chests ladies and bring that jewelery back out, because fashion jewelery is back in style.

When any piece of jewelery is no longer the height of fashion it quickly becomes retro and then becomes classic. The dangling earrings that were so popular back during the early 1900's through the 20s are now considered classic pieces of jewelery. Something elegant to wear to your next dinner party. Just as the small pearl beads that were popular in the early 50s are now considered classic.

Moving along the fashion trend chain we come to the bold and sometimes abstract jewelery of the 60s and 70s. Plastic became useful for more than Tupperware and women were enjoying it in bangles, beads, earrings and necklaces. Fashion jewelery from this era is on the verge of becoming classic and it's already pure retro. Just as the set of earrings and necklace replete in a single bold colored disc of plastic each are considered both retro and verging on classy. When you want to use plastic fashion jewelery to great effect, think a simple pair of black discs for earrings and a silver chain with a similar black disc pendant for the necklace.

When we move along to the eighties we see fashion jewelery that's only recently become retro. This jewelery is big, bold and colorful to match equally big hair and colorful makeup. Look for abstract pieces, like triangles with unique moulded or embossed patterns. Oblong plastic beads are very popular from this period and work well as necklaces.

This kind of retro fashion jewelery is just the funky statement you need for a fun night out with friends. Retro jewelery also helps make a statement about you and your favorite tastes. Plus, it's an easy and low cost way to update the outfit. Especially, if you are pulling jewelery down from the wardrobe where you left it when the last decade ended.

That would be the 90s when fashion jewelery turned more fanciful and lighter. This decade embodied the sterling silver chain with glass beads, probably amber beads, fun rings with Celtic designs on them and a surge in alternative jewelery like toe rings, tongue rings and belly button studs.

Yes, even these kinds of past fashion jewelery are starting to come into retro status. Another 30 years and you'll be able to enjoy a classic look when you wear light as a feather sterling silver chain necklace with a row of amber beaded strings hanging from it. For now that old jewelery from the 90s is great for a simple evening dinner, or a day out shopping.

Every piece of fashion jewelery will eventually become retro and even attain classic status if you hold onto it long enough. Don't hide that old jewelery anymore. Bring it out and let others enjoy the old now new again.
