Nothing shouts summer time like a nice pair of flip flops. If you ask me, most slippers lack a distinct glitz on their own, but these basic sandals can be fancied by creating a basic thong cover through knitting. Your knowledge on knitting slippers can now be put in creative use!

Created with an eyelash yarn in an I-cord style pattern, these fuzzy slippers is the perfect footwear for the beach or at the mall on a hot summer afternoon. If you want to change the look of your slippers, simply snip off the existing cover and knit a new cover.

You'll need:

1. A pair of flip flops
2. 20 yards eyelash yarn (use 10 yards for every shoe)
3. 2 size 8 US double pointed needles
4. Yarn needle
5. Scissors

Let's start!

1. Begin by casting on 6 stitches.

2. Knit 1 row.

3. Slide the stitches to the other end of the needle and do this without turning the piece.

4. Slide the ball yarn beneath the thong and knit the second row.

5. Continue doing this until you reach the toe loop.

6. When you slide the yarn under on the next row, be sure you go on the other side of the thong.

7. Continue doing this until you reach the end part of the thong.

8. Cut the thread.

9. Weave in ends.

10. Repeat the process for the second flip flop.

Here are simple tips for you to consider while making this project:

1. For a pleasant crafting experience, use brand new flip flops.

2. Choose a yarn color that coordinates nicely with the slippers.

3. You need not worry about pulling the yarn tight that the knitting tube closes up on the back. No one will notice the ladders.

4. To make the eyelashes pop, fluff the yarn. If the finished piece is too hairy for you, trim the lashes.
