All About Necklines
Clothing comes with all sorts of necklines these days, some suit some people and not others and vice versa. Here is a simple guide to neckline styles and what is likely to suit who.
Conservative necklines are the more formal styles for dresses and tops, they show very little cleavage and are supposedly good choices for women with small or medium sized busts. These types of necklines are commonly found in vintage clothing.

Bateau (Boat) Neckline : This neckline follows the collarbone and gives a very formal appearance. Blouses and dresses with this style of neckline can add bulk to your upper body which can be useful to balance out a wider bottom half.

Sabrina Neckline: The Sabrina neckline is named after the character played by Audrey Hepburn in the movie ‘Sabrina’. This is a wide curving neckline from shoulder to shoulder almost, that only drops a little below the collarbone. It can help people with thinner faces and necks appear more in proportion and is flattering for people with smaller busts.
The portrait neckline is a classic shape for bridal wear.

Portrait Neckline: This neckline is similar to the Sabrina neckline but can be worn off the shoulders with some extra material in a shawl-like drape. This look is very flattering for most women without being too revealing, considered a favourite look to have a portrait done, hence the name.

Jewel Neckline: This neckline is worn high and covers the body high to the neckline (just like a t-shirt) and to the shoulders, usually sleevless. The name jewel comes from this look being favoured to show off a special piece of jewelry. It is a good style to emphasise a smaller bust.
