How to make Wool PomPoms

Wool pompoms are simple to make and can keep kids entertained, useful for christmas decorations too!

 You will need:

  • Cardboard
  • 2 round things to trace around – around 3cm difference in diameter
  • Wool/Yarn
  • Sharp Scissors

1)  Create 2 doughnut shaped cardboard circles. This can be achieved by tracing around two round objects that have different widths by a few cm, then cutting them out.

2)  Place the 2 cardboard rings together and begin to wind the wool around the rings. This is easier using shorter lengths of wool, when starting with a new length try to leave the end on the outside of the cardboard cicles.

3)  Once the rings are full of wool cut the wool around the outside edges.

4)  Pass another length of wool around the inside of the cardboard circles, pull tight to the centre and tie a few tight knots.

5)  The cardboard can now be removed or cut out if necessary leaving you a pompom! The untidy ends can be snipped away.
